If you are doing a Microsoft Office for Windows Mail Merge and it fails or displays inaccurate data, verify that Confirm file format conversion on open is checked.  Inaccurate data includes misformatted dates, addresses, zip codes, or dollar amounts.


  1. Go to Options.  In this version of Microsoft Word, options is in the File menu.
  2. Select Advanced in the left pane.
  3. Scroll down to General.
  4. Check the box in front of Confirm file format conversion on open.
  5. Press OK.
  6. Repeat the mail merge.
