Compressed files help save disk space and clutter when copying files. You may have to deal with a .zip, .rar or other form of compressed file at some point to get the files you want. Follow the instructions below if you are on a Windows computer:

  1. Double-click the compressed file. You will see a window that looks like the one shown below. Click on “Extract all files”.

  2. Next, a window will appear asking you for the destination of the unzipped file. This will be the same as your compressed file’s destination by default. Click on extract.

  3. Your files are now unzipped and ready to use!

If you are on a Mac, simply double-click the compressed file and it will be extracted to the current folder automatically.
