Learn what’s new in Gmail from Google.

This Gmail update lets you customize your inbox to better suit your working style. You can now sort emails without opening them, create Google Calendar events and notes in Google Keep from your inbox, and snooze emails so you are automatically reminded of them later, among other features.

Try out the new interface via the following steps:

  1. Navigate to your Bmail Inbox.
  2. In the top right of the browser window, click Settings Settingsand then Try the new Gmail.
  3. You will then be greeted by the following screen:
  4. Then, you will have the option to set the display density:

And if you choose the “Default” view, you have the option to click on attachments to view them directly from the subject line.

Other helpful features include:

Working Offline in Gmail

If you’re stuck without Internet access but still want to get work done, then enable offline mail via Settings. You will be able to view, search, write, delete, or archive your messages from up to the past 90 days. Any emails you send while offline will be queued, and sent when you regain Internet access. (That also applies to other changes like sorting and deleting emails.)

Automatic Reply Reminders

For when you or your email’s recipient inevitably forget to respond to a message, the new Gmail prompts you to follow up.

This capability applies both to messages that you have received, and messages on which you haven’t heard back yet. You can elect to prompt for one, or neither, of these options by going to Settings, and under the “General” tab, as shown.

If you do not like the new Gmail interface immediately, you can switch back temporarily via these steps:

  1. Navigate to your Bmail Inbox.
  2. In the top right of the browser window, click Settingsand then Go back to classic Gmail.

Note that you can continue to use classic Gmail until late September, 2018. Then, all accounts will be migrated to the new Gmail interface.
