Please be aware that Linux office backups only backup user data (the /home directory) and are only kept for one week. They are primarily intended for a disaster recovery situation, not to recover versions of files over a long period of time.
Graphical Interface
- Right-click on an open space on one of the panels in your GNOME desktop.
- Click Add to Panel…

- This will add a backup status icon to your panel. The icon will be red if your last backup is over a week old, yellow if your backup is 2-7 days old, or green if your backup is 0-2 days old.
Command Line
- Run the command backup-status. The command will output information about your last backup, e.g.:
OKAY: last successful backup occurred on 08-28-2014
You have a recent successful backup.
