What is the Bucknell VPN Client?
  Question

What is the Bucknell VPN Client?

  Answer

The Bucknell Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a tool that allows users to access many of Bucknell's network resources while off campus. The VPN provides a more secure connection to Bucknell's network, while providing easy access to the following services:

  • File Services on Netspace
  • Keyed applications on faculty/staff laptop, such as Photoshop and Dreamweaver
  • Secure email from off campus (Note: secure email can now be handled without the VPN by changing your outgoing mail settings to smtpauth.bucknell.edu. Please search Ask Library & IT for instructions on how to make this change.

The VPN is designed for use with a high speed (broadband) Internet connection. Those connecting to Bucknell through a dial-up connection already have access to the above services. It is bundled with our BU Network Drives installer to make an all-in-one solution to accessing netspace from off campus.
